TDA is a dental support company who advises, implements and maintains dental practices across the UK with CQC regulations; our consultants visit your practice to help and support staff with putting better compliance systems into place. It was started up in 2010 by Sharon Martin.
Sharon has worked in dentistry for most of her working life and during this time she has grown to have a passion for all things dentistry.
Whilst working as a manager in a clinic was great, CQC popped its head up in the dental world and sent practices into turmoil. Instead of burying her head in the sand, Sharon took great interest in learning how it was going to fit in with dental practices and how she could help them.
She realised there was a lot to do and dentists would be hard pushed to complete it all in a day’s work. Practice managers needed guidance and support on how to get CQC under control in their practices. The brainwave of giving up her full-time job, starting up her own business seemed a bit mad at the time but TDA was born, starting in the south east but within a few months it progressed to working across the country. The rest is history!
If you know of Sharon, you would have found she was always involved with dental seminars, dental shows and has a huge bunch of dental friends.
TDA continued to grow and started introducing in-house CPD training, visual management and mentoring for the team.
It was during 2011 when Sharon met Steff at a practice in Harpenden where she was nursing. They worked closely together over the next 18 months when Sharon trained Steff as a practice manager to help with maternity cover and implementing CQC.
We pride ourselves in giving the most to our practices, so when Steff took over in January 2017 we decided to stop in-house training and focus on CQC implementation and maintenance, including mentoring your staff to understand CQC demands whilst working in a dental environment.
TDA have a 100% rate on all CQC inspections. We can also help with NHS inspections for our clients, which up to now, we have passed.
Director of TDA
Owning a dental compliance company wasn’t always on her agenda.
Steff qualified as a Legal/Medical Secretary in 2008 and found it hard pushed to find a job in the legal sector.
She fell into a Trainee Dental Nurse job in the summer of 2008 and soon grew to love dentistry. She qualified as a NEBDN Dental Nurse in November 2011. Within 6 months she was approached by her current employer to cover maternity leave as a Practice Manager. This was when Sharon Martin initially trained and taught Steff CQC compliance and Practice Management. They had their first CQC inspection in July 2013 and passed with flying colours. It was around this time that Steff’s interest in compliance grew.
After her maternity cover ended, she went back into her nursing role but still helped out with senior roles within the practice when management went part time.
Steff and Sharon continued to have a great working relationship over the years, so in June 2015 Steff applied for a job as a CQC Manager at TDA. She joined in September 2015 part-time and moved to another Practice as part-time Practice Manager.
Since taking over TDA in January 2017, her knowledge has continued to grow and she is experiencing first hand CQC inspections and what they are looking for; keeping all our clients up to date, compliant and happy!
PA of TDA
Tracey began dental nursing in 1985 and over the years has worked in general dentistry as well as for a specialist implantologist and periodontist.
For 20 years she was also a unit manager for an NHS out of hours emergency dental clinic.
Later on in her career, Tracey went on to become a practice manager before joining TDA in 2013.
We have nothing but amazing feedback about Tracey and how on the ball and efficient she is when dealing with clients. Shes always on hand to listen to your dental woes, give you dental advice and ensure everything from booking in with TDA to walking through your practice doors runs smoothly.
As our company is continuing to grow, we sometimes have some help when our diary gets a bit crazy. All support staff have a great wealth of knowledge within the dental and CQC sector; they are either still working in dental or have previously been dental nurses and practice managers. They all work under Steff and Tracey’s guidance and have a list of compliance to double check on their visits.
Please note that if support staff are booked for your maintenance visit, Steff will always attend the next one.
